Taplejung. Redstar Football Club Jhapa has secured a place in the semifinals of the 3rd International Invitational Taplejung Gold Cup Football Tournament. In today’s match, Redstar defeated Sahara Club Pokhara 2–0.
For Jhapa, Sabin Kumar Lungeli scored the opening goal in the 77th minute, followed by another goal through a penalty in injury time, sealing the victory for his team.
The tournament, organized by the Lakhayatra Organizing Committee on the occasion of the Lakhayatra festival, will see Legend Football Academy, Siliguri (India) face Church Boys Lalitpur on Monday. Earlier, in the opening match on Saturday, Itahari entered the semifinals by defeating hosts Tellok Sporting Club.
The champions of the tournament will receive a cash prize of NPR 702,082 along with a trophy, medals, and certificates, while the runners-up will bag NPR 350,082 plus trophy, medals, and certificates.
