Simkot (Humla), Sept 20. Thukten Palwar Tamang, originally from Humla and currently residing in Kathmandu, has been missing for the past 11 days after participating in the Gen-Z movement in the capital.
Tamang, a permanent resident of Khagal village in Namkha Rural Municipality-3 of Humla, had been living in Tinchuli, Kathmandu. According to his father, Tasi Chiring, Thukten last returned home on September 9 (Bhadra 23) after joining a Gen-Z protest. He was working at a hotel in Kathmandu and, after completing his morning shift on September 10 (Bhadra 24), he left his room at around 2:00 PM to attend the protest but never returned.
Despite continuous search efforts across various parts of Kathmandu for 11 days, his whereabouts remain unknown. His father said Thukten went out to join the protest held in Boudha and has not been heard from since. Among two brothers, Thukten is the younger one.
Following his disappearance, the Namkhyom Humla Buddhist Society issued a public notice urging for his search. The society also submitted a memorandum to Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Kulman Ghising on Wednesday, requesting the government’s intervention.
The 24-year-old had completed his monastic studies at Narayanthan Monastery and was living in Tinchuli with his nephew.
